Abortion Rates DROP – See the DATA!

(FreePressBeacon.com) – In a development that might not delight conservatives as much as they might have hoped, the 2022 overturn of Roe v. Wade was expected to cause a sharp decline in abortion rates, but the reality reflects only a slight 2% decrease.

This reveals the complexity and polarization of state laws across our nation.

Some states have firmly protected the unborn, while others have dug in their heels defending the so-called “right” to abortion.

The seismic shift following Roe v. Wade’s overturn in 2022 led to a marginal decline in abortion numbers in America, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports a total of 613,383 abortions performed in 2022, down from 622,108 in 2021.

Despite the landmark decision, some states remain battlegrounds for abortion rights.

Republican-led states have enacted strict abortion bans with exceptions for medical emergencies, while others have pushed to safeguard abortion access, Fox 17 notes in a report.

CDC data reveal the vast majority of abortions occur at or before nine weeks of pregnancy, with over 70% conducted via early medication methods.

Still, 6% of abortions occurred between 14 and 20 weeks, raising ethical and moral concerns.

The Guttmacher Institute noted that abortion rates actually rose in 2023 to the highest levels in over a decade, further complicating the narrative of a post-Roe America.

Many conservatives lament the fact that nearly 60% of abortion patients are women who’ve previously given birth, and 44% had experienced abortion before.

This implies a cycle of behavior and highlights the importance of stressing alternatives and support for those in crisis.

Adding a layer to this, the CDC report omits data from four liberal states: California, Maryland, New Hampshire, and New Jersey, potentially skewing national abortion statistics.

Continued vigilance is needed to protect the unborn as the national debate around abortion persists, with pro-life supporters closely watching how state laws evolve.

The legacy of Roe v. Wade would perhaps be best summed up by the Supreme Court’s ruling: allowing states, instead of the federal government, to decide the legality of abortion.
