(FreePressBeacon.com) – In a serious blow to transgenderism, Ohio has dropped the hammer as its latest legislation takes a bold stand on the contentious issue of bathroom access for transgender students.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed a groundbreaking bill mandating that transgender students, from kindergarten through college, use multiperson bathrooms matching their birth-assigned gender.
This law affects both public and private institutions.
Dubbed the “Protect All Students Act,” it aims to ensure safety and privacy in restrooms, a topic that has stirred much controversy, reports The Herald Dispatch.
While proponents argue the legislation protects children, critics claim it violates the rights of transgender students, citing increased risks of bullying and assault.
The ACLU of Ohio and other civil rights groups strongly oppose the bill, condemning it as discriminatory and unjust.
The bill lacks a clear enforcement mechanism, raising questions about its practical implementation.
Despite this, Ohio joins a growing list of states enacting similar restrictions.
As the U.S. Supreme Court prepares to hear a related case from Tennessee, this decision could have broader implications nationwide.
This new law was attached to unrelated legislation concerning the College Credit Plus program and debated for 19 months.
Despite Democrat opposition and teacher unions’ concerns, it passed with a Republican majority in Ohio’s state Senate.
“It revolves around safety, security, and, I think, common sense. It protects our children and grandchildren in private spaces where they are most vulnerable,” declared Republican Ohio state Sen. Jerry Cirino.
Studies indicate no increase in assaults from allowing transgender individuals to use facilities matching their gender identity.
However, opponents of the law believe it improperly targets and potentially endangers transgender youth.
“Common sense is on a winning streak in America today. No student should be forced to go into the bathroom or locker room with a student of the opposite sex, and Ohio’s kids are better protected now because of Governor DeWine’s decision to sign this bill,” said Aaron Baer, president of the Center for Christian Virtue, cited by AP.
The national conversation around these issues suggests further legal and political battles ahead.
