(FreePressBeacon.com) – Following his disastrous presidential debate, leftwing pundits and politicians are concerned about Joe Biden’s mental and physical ability to continue his campaign.

This week, murmurs and speculation spread within Biden’s own party ranks in Congress.
Several lawmakers have either directly urged Biden to withdraw from the race or hinted that he should seriously consider it.
Rep. Lloyd Doggett (TX) was the first to publicly express this sentiment, stating, “I am hopeful that he will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw. I respectfully call on him to do so.”
Even high-profile figures like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi weighed in, noting on MSNBC, “I think it’s a legitimate question to say, is this an episode or is this a condition? When people ask that question, it’s completely legitimate — of both candidates.”
As these concerns bubble up, polls from liberal firm OpenLabs indicate that Biden is trailing behind Trump in traditionally Democratic-leaning states such as New Hampshire, Virginia and New Mexico, adding to the anxiety within the party.
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) expressed his alarm on a local news station, advocating for more openness from the president and his team.
“Like a lot of people, I was pretty horrified,” he said, pushing for “the president and his team to be candid about his condition, that this was a real anomaly and not just the way he is these days.”
Representative Mike Quigley (D-IL) also hinted at the broader electoral implications of Biden’s debate performance.
“We have to be honest with ourselves that it wasn’t just a horrible night,” Quigley said. “But I won’t go beyond that out of my respect and understanding for President Joe Biden, a very proud person who has served us extraordinarily for 50 years.”
Further highlighting concerns about Biden’s readiness, he himself admitted to missteps in his pre-debate preparations at a fundraiser in McLean, Virginia.
He acknowledged that traveling extensively before the debate was unwise. “I wasn’t very smart,” he said, referring to his trips to a G-7 conference in Italy and the 80th anniversary of D-Day in France. “I didn’t listen to my staff,” he added, “and then I almost fell asleep on stage.”
"The dam is breaking. Top Democratic leaders, former admin officials, current admin officials, major donors are all telling us… that they think that President Biden needs to step aside for the good of the party, for the good of the country." pic.twitter.com/iVXwazpDBZ
