(FreePressBeacon.com) – In a dramatic turn of events, the remains of British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch were recovered from his $40 million yacht after it sank off the Italian coast during a severe storm.
This tragic incident also left his 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, missing. At first, Italian media reported that both Lynch and his daughter had been found, but later updates confirmed that only his body was recovered.
A source involved in the rescue operations disclosed that 59-year-old Lynch was found three days after his British-flagged luxury yacht sank. His body was taken to a morgue in Palermo in a blue body bag.
Currently, Lynch’s daughter remains the last of six dead bodies to be located.
“We would need a crystal ball to know when we’ll be able to find the next body,” commented the fire rescue service spokesperson Luca Cari.
Cari highlighted the challenges rescue teams face due to the difficult conditions within the wreckage.
The ship’s chef, Ricardo Thomas, was the first confirmed victim found after the yacht sank.
Other victims identified included New York City lawyer Christopher Morvillo and his wife Neda, and Morgan Stanley executive Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy.
Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, and 14 others, including a one-year-old child, managed to escape before the vessel capsized.
Lynch had hosted the gathering on his yacht to celebrate that he was recently acquitted in a significant U.S. fraud trial.
He extended invitations to lawyers from his defense team and close supporters.
The search efforts for Lynch’s daughter continued strongly. Italian firefighting department divers national director Giuseppe Petrone said he hoped to recover her body by the end of the day.
Divers faced additional challenges, given that the yacht’s resting place is approximately 160 feet below the surface.
This limits the team to only 12 minutes of dive time per session due to the depth.
