(FreePressBeacon.com) – In a new nail in the likely coffin of the Biden-Harris administration as a result of the upcoming 2024 election, U.S. Representative Stephanie Bice has accused the current U.S. leadership of a disturbing lack of transparency after being denied an FBI briefing on Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi’s arrest.
Charged with plotting a terrorist attack on Election Day, Tawhedi reportedly entered the U.S. under a rushed vetting process.
This revelation raises red flags about the administration’s immigration policies after the shameful Afghanistan withdrawal.
The Department of Justice charged 27-year-old Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi with intending to launch a violent attack in the name of ISIS using firearms and ammunition.
His plot allegedly included selling off family property to finance the attack, which he dreamed of executing on Election Day with the hope of becoming a martyr.
Tawhedi and a juvenile accomplice took concrete steps to arm themselves, meeting with an FBI source to purchase firearms.
Thankfully, the Justice Department, FBI, and other agencies thwarted the attack.
Representative Bice expressed her concerns after being denied further information.
In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, she noted the FBI initially supported her request for a briefing.
She stated, “When my office requested additional information and a briefing from the Department of Justice on this matter, my request was denied by the administration. What does the Biden-Harris Department of Justice have to hide here?”
“U.S. Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-OK) said the Biden administration has blocked the FBI from fulfilling her request for a briefing on the arrest of an Afghan man charged with plotting a terror attack on Election Day,” Fox News writes in a report.
Tawhedi’s entry into the U.S. came under scrutiny due to Operation Allies Welcome, which bypassed the rigorous scrutiny of the traditional special immigrant visa program following the Afghanistan pullout.
Bice and other critics highlight reports indicating inadequate vetting of Afghan refugees under this rapid resettlement process.
A 2022 report from the DHS inspector general acknowledged the lack of critical data for vetting, raising national security concerns.
Tawhedi, previously a CIA security guard in Afghanistan, is thought to have become radicalized after reaching U.S. soil.
Despite his initial entry on humanitarian parole, his later status upgrade to a special immigrant visa further complicates concerns about the thoroughness of vetting protocols.
The administration insists Tawhedi’s vetting raised no alarms, even as this case amplifies worries about homeland security.
“As charged, the Justice Department foiled the defendant’s plot to acquire semi-automatic weapons and commit a violent attack in the name of ISIS on U.S. soil on Election Day,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland.
“We will continue to combat the ongoing threat that ISIS and its supporters pose to America’s national security,” he added.
With a maximum sentence of 35 years looming if convicted, Tawhedi’s case casts a shadow over the Biden administration’s decisions during the Afghanistan evacuation.
