(FreePressBeacon.com) – Confirming why she has refused to engage with the media so far, Kamala Harris botched her first-ever interview by being unable to explain critical policy shifts, including the border crisis.
Over a month after clinching the Democrat nomination, Harris and her running mate Governor Tim Walz joined CNN for a nearly 30-minute session.
They tackled topics ranging from Walz’s controversial military service claims to Harris’ recent policy flip-flops since her previous presidential bid.
CNN’s Dana Bash kicked things off by asking Harris about her day-one plans if elected president.
Harris outlined her goal to “strengthen the middle class” and then passed the mic to Walz for more details.
However, Bash pressed on, questioning why these steps had not been taken during Harris’ tenure as vice president.
“Well, first of all, we had to recover as an economy, and we have done that. I’m very proud of the work that we have done that has brought inflation down to less than 3%, the work that we have done to cap the cost of insulin at $35 a month for seniors,” Harris claimed.
“Donald Trump said he was going to do a number of things, including allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices. Never happened. We did it,” Harris said.
The interview then turned to Harris’ change of heart on several policies.
Bash mentioned Harris’ past support for the Green New Deal and her 2019 stance against fracking, which is especially important in the crucial state of Pennsylvania.
When asked if she still intended to ban fracking, Harris claimed that she had abandoned that idea by 2020, even though she had previously said the contrary.
Bash did not let up and pressed Harris on her oversight of border issues.
When asked if she still supported decriminalizing border crossings—a view she held during her 2019 campaign—Harris avoided a direct answer, instead emphasizing the importance of enforcing laws.
As the interview unfolded, Bash questioned how the public should interpret Harris’ evolving platform, which has not been detailed on her campaign site.
Lastly, Bash probed if Harris had any regrets regarding what was communicated about Joe Biden’s health during their campaign.
“Not at all,” Harris answered, highlighting Biden’s dedication to the American people.
Despite remaining quiet during the first half of the interview, Bash also questioned Walz about the lies he has spread regarding his military record.
