(FreePressBeacon.com) – The U.S. Coast Guard thwarted yet another brazen attempt by illegal aliens to invade American soil, intercepting a boat packed with 21 individuals off the coast of San Diego.
See the tweet below.
In a daring nighttime operation, Coast Guard crews spotted a suspicious 40-foot panga-style vessel lurking approximately 20 miles off the coast of Point Loma.
These swift, low-profile boats are notorious for their use in smuggling operations, making them a favorite among human traffickers seeking to exploit the maritime borders.
Acting on U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intelligence, Coast Guard Cutter Active and Terrell Horne swiftly deployed to confront the threat.
At around 10:45 p.m., boarding teams from both cutters, with assistance from CBP, successfully interdicted the vessel and apprehended all 21 individuals on board.
Initial interviews revealed a familiar pattern of deception, with all individuals initially claiming Mexican nationality.
Subsequent checks exposed the lies, identifying two passengers as Guatemalan and Salvadoran aliens.
Moreover, this interception is just the tip of the iceberg in an alarming surge of maritime smuggling activities plaguing the San Diego coast.
Reports indicate a staggering 400% increase in smuggling cases since 2018, with nearly 150 cases reported in the last three months alone.
The frequency of these incursions has become so commonplace that San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Lifeguard Division Lieutenant Rick Romera grimly noted, “It happens on a weekly basis.”
The dangers posed by these reckless smuggling operations were tragically illustrated just days earlier when a suspected smuggler boat capsized in Ocean Beach, resulting in one fatality.
This latest interception is part of a broader national crackdown on illegal immigration and border security under the Trump administration.
Coast Guard acting commandant Admiral Kevin Lunday emphasized this commitment, stating:
“In accordance with the President’s Executive Orders, the Coast Guard continues to surge assets and leverage its unique capabilities to protect America’s borders, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.”
The Department of Homeland Security reported a staggering 7,300 illegal alien arrests in just the past week.
Ultimately, the tireless efforts of the Coast Guard and other law enforcement agencies deserve utmost gratitude and support.
Their unwavering dedication to protecting the nation’s borders in the face of this relentless onslaught is nothing short of heroic.
