(FreePressBeacon.com) – In a time when reliability is crucial, Honda is recalling 1.7 million vehicles in the U.S. due to a severe steering defect.

This widespread recall affects 2022-2025 models, raising questions about modern manufacturing reliability.

Honda has initiated a significant recall, involving nearly 1.7 million vehicles in the U.S., due to potential steering gearbox issues that could lead to accidents.

The affected models include popular vehicles such as the Acura Integra and Honda Civic, alongside others from the 2022 to 2025 model years.

The steering defect revolves around the gearbox assembly, which has been reported to have excessive internal friction, making steering more challenging.

The problem stems from a worm wheel spring preload set too high, hindering proper steering function.

Drivers may experience a sticky steering feeling or abnormal noise as warning signs of this defect.

Although no accidents or injuries have been linked to the issue, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Honda are handling the situation with caution.

Affected owners will receive notification letters by November 18, 2024, instructing them to contact their authorized dealers for a free fix.

Honda dealers will replace the worm gear spring and adjust the grease as necessary to resolve these steering issues.

Both the NHTSA and Honda identified the gearbox’s susceptibility to environmental heat and moisture, which swells the worm wheel and diminishes the grease film, leading to increased friction.

Amidst Honda’s recall, Tesla also announced challenges with its Cybertruck.

Tesla is recalling over 27,000 vehicles due to delays in rear-view camera images, tackled with a no-cost software update.

Noticeably, two giants in the automotive industry are wrestling with safety issues, prompting consumers to question their faith in these brands.

Even though no incidents involving these defective Honda models have occurred yet, consumers should remain vigilant and proactive.

For further assistance, Honda customers can call 1-888-234-2138, referencing recall numbers SJS, MJU, QJT, and VJV.
