(FreePressBeacon.com) – In a great display of unity signaling a red wave this November, former President Donald Trump’s strong influence over the Republican Party was evident during the second night of the Republican National Convention.
The party’s elite joined forces at the event to fully endorse their nominee while highlighting the threats posed by Joe Biden and his progressive supporters.
The event’s speakers sharply criticized left-wing extremism, particularly highlighting disruptive anti-Israel protests on college campuses earlier in the year.
Both Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley expressed strong support for Trump, contrasting his presidential performance with that of Biden.
In his speech, DeSantis said, “Let’s send Joe Biden back to his basement, and Donald Trump back to the White House.”
DeSantis also commented on Biden’s fitness for office, expressing concern about his ability to fulfill presidential duties given his advanced age and mental decline.
This concern over Biden’s capacity has become a central issue among Democrats, prompting calls for his replacement with a younger candidate.
Haley also took the stage to offer her “strong endorsement” of Trump, her former political rival, emphasizing her support during the convention.
These endorsements came swiftly after both Haley and DeSantis withdrew from their own presidential campaigns earlier in the year, especially as the party rallied around Trump following an assassination attempt on him.
The night’s speeches were filled with sharp criticism against Biden, the media and the nominee’s several adversaries.
The event heavily emphasized national security, particularly the ongoing issues at the U.S. southern border.
Notable figures such as Senators Ted Cruz from Texas and Tom Cotton from Arkansas called for strong voter support for Trump.
They advocated for enhanced border security and a return to the safety levels that were evident during Trump’s presidency.
In a potent address, Cruz said Biden compromised national safety by mishandling the border crisis, which has seen 11.5 million illegals entering the country.
House Speaker Mike Johnson criticized the radical left in his speech, claiming, “They want to tear down [conservative] values and remold us into some sort of borderless, lawless, Marxist, socialist utopia,” adding, “We’re here to say, not on our watch. We will not allow that now.”
Among other party figures who spoke at the event were House majority leader Steve Scalise, Rep. Elise Stefanik and Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake.
