In an event that broke a family’s heart, promising Air Force cadet candidate Ava Moore received full military honors after she was killed by an illegal alien while jet skiing.
The 18-year-old Texas native, who had just completed her studies at the USAFA Preparatory School, was honored with complete military funeral services, including playing Taps and a ceremonial flag presentation.
Moore was kayaking on Lake Grapevine near Dallas when her life was cut short by Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez-Gonzalez, an illegal alien from Venezuela who fled the scene after striking Moore with a jet ski.
The suspect has been charged with second-degree manslaughter and is being held on a $500,000 bond, with ICE placing a detainer for deportation once legal proceedings conclude.
Maikel Coello Perozo, also an illegal alien from Venezuela and Gonzalez-Gonzales’ accomplice, faces charges related to the collision and hindering apprehension. He is being held on $3,250 bail with an ICE detainer as well.
The involvement of two illegal aliens in this tragedy has fueled concerns about the ongoing border security crisis that has allowed millions of illegals to enter the country under the past administration.
Lieutenant General Tony Bauernfeind, U.S. Air Force Academy Superintendent, paid tribute to Moore.
“We lost an exemplary teammate this weekend – Cadet Candidate Ava Moore, whose passion for leadership and service left an impact on everyone she met,” he said.
The ceremony at The Met Church in Fort Worth included full military honors befitting her status as an active-duty cadet candidate who would have joined the Academy’s Class of 2029.
Moore’s athletic achievements were as impressive as her academic ones. A four-year varsity basketball player and team captain at Timber Creek High School, she inspired younger athletes with her leadership skills.
One young camper from her basketball program was so moved by Moore’s influence that she honored the fallen cadet candidate by wearing Moore’s jersey number with her AAU team.
In addition, her former middle school English teacher, Danielle Bailey, recalled Moore’s exceptional qualities.
She underscored that Moore displayed remarkable intelligence, wit, and curiosity even at a young age.
Bailey noted that the girl’s potential was evident early on, making her untimely death all the more tragic for a nation that has lost a future leader.
Moore’s death marks another American life needlessly lost to the ongoing border crisis. Her family grieves, and the Air Force Academy mourns one of its promising future leaders.
Still, Many Americans are questioning how many more innocent citizens must pay the ultimate price before our government secures the southern border and protects its citizens.
The contrast between Moore’s dedication to serving her country and the alleged perpetrator’s illegal status has heightened calls for immediate immigration reform and border security measures.
Ultimately, this heartbreaking event resonates deeply with those who prioritize national security and reaffirms a commitment to policies that protect American citizens first and foremost.
