(FreePressBeacon.com) – Signaling a change of direction for the far left now that Joe Biden has withdrawn from the presidential race, Democracy Alliance, a notorious group of progressive donors, has officially decided to back Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election.
This influential network of left-leaning donors, known for channeling over $2 billion into liberal campaigns and organizations over the last two decades, voted to support Harris in her presidential bid.
“We are 100 percent all in and ready to deliver,” stated Democracy Alliance president Pamela Shifman, expressing confidence in Harris’s campaign. “We’re going to win.”
Democracy Alliance itself does not directly fund campaigns. Instead, it acts as a strategic gathering for wealthy liberals to align their contributions effectively.
To join this exclusive circle, members originally had to pay a $25,000 entry fee, $30,000 in annual dues and commit at least $200,000 annually to recommended causes.
The organization’s website highlights its role in uniting wealthy individuals, labor unions, activists, nonprofits, and elected officials to “coordinate, strategize and win.”
They proudly noted their influence in securing key governorships in the Midwest during the 2022 midterm elections.
The site states, “Together, we’re working not only to save our democracy, but to build it into the just, multiracial, feminist democracy we deserve.”
Further boosting Harris’s campaign, Abigail Disney, who previously threatened to stop donations unless Joe Biden was dropped from the Democratic ticket, has announced her support for Harris, including a planned fundraiser.
Susie Tompkins Buell, a major California donor who supported Harris in 2020, is also organizing a fundraising event.
Additionally, prominent Silicon Valley donor Ron Conway expressed, “The tech community must come together to defeat Donald Trump and save our democracy by uniting behind Vice President Kamala Harris.”
Following Biden’s announcement to not seek reelection, Harris’s campaign reportedly raised over $81 million in just 24 hours.
Regarding Biden’s campaign funds, former Federal Election Commission lawyer Saurav Ghosh mentioned to Reuters that about $96 million should be transferrable to Harris without significant issues.
However, FEC Chairman Sean Cooksey described the situation as “really complicated” and anticipated challenges from conservatives regarding Harris’s use of the funds.
As the Democratic National Convention approaches in August, over 1,000 delegates have already expressed their support for Harris, surpassing half the total needed to secure the nomination.
