Trump Gets Green Light From Secret Service

DONALD TRUMP

(FreePressBeacon.com) – Following an alarming security lapse that almost cost him his life, the Secret Service approved a new strategy for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s outdoor rallies to prevent any further assassination attempts.

This new development comes after Trump narrowly escaped one such attempt last month in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Additionally, this decision follows private requests for Trump to pause these gatherings while the agency reassessed its security measures.

Trump resumed his outdoor events last week with a rally in Montana, marking his return to public key activities since the assassination attempt.

According to ABC News and the Washington Post, the new protective measures include surrounding Trump with bulletproof glass, a precaution typically reserved for sitting presidents and vice presidents when they face significant threats.

The Department of Defense, which usually handles such logistics, coordinates the deployment of this protective glass.

An official stated, “Former presidents and candidates don’t normally get bulletproof glass or support from DoD. This glass needs to be brought in on trucks and vans.”

To make deployment easier at various locations, the Secret Service has reportedly been setting up reserves of bulletproof glass across the country specifically for Trump’s campaign events.

The plan also includes undisclosed advanced technical security measures.

During the incident on July 13, 20-year-old assailant Matthew Thomas Crooks managed to get within 130 yards of Trump at the Butler rally by moving across a shed and fired multiple shots.

One bullet grazed Trump’s right ear, causing minor injury. However, the attacker managed to kill firefighter Corey Comperatore and severely injure bystanders David Dutch and James Copenhaver.

This event was the first instance since John Hinckley Jr. attacked President Ronald Reagan in 1981, where an assassin managed to injure a sitting or former U.S. president.

The aftermath of the assassination attempt has plunged the Secret Service into chaos, prompting a thorough review of what went wrong on that day.

Former Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle resigned last month after facing significant pressure following her congressional testimony, which led to bipartisan calls for her exit.

Multiple investigations are currently underway to understand the lapses thoroughly and ensure such an incident does not happen again.

The inquiries are being carried out by a bipartisan task force, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Inspector General.
